The AWS Config Reaction team is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer III to lead the architecture and technical direction of compliance systems that support AWS customers in maintaining security and compliance. This role involves designing high-scale distributed services and mentoring junior engineers while ensuring platform scalability and reliability. • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards and code reviews
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of high-scale distributed services for the AWS Config Compliance Reporting platforms
• Own team-level architecture decisions and define system boundaries and scaling strategies
• Decompose large efforts into parallel workstreams to enable cohesive team delivery
• Drive technical direction across the team and influence adjacent teams when projects cross boundaries
• Proactively improve platform scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to L4 and L5 engineers through design and code reviews
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive root cause analysis for operational improvements
• Represent the team's technical perspective in roadmap discussions and contribute to multi-quarter planning
