Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in deep learning with a focus on LLMs, post-training, or reinforcement learning.
- Proficient programming skills in Python and a major deep learning framework such as JAX or PyTorch.
- Masters/PhD, or equivalent practical experience, in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
- Experience training state-of-the-art large models at scale, with familiarity in distributed training challenges and trade-offs.
- Experience improving model performance on complex reasoning tasks such as math, coding, and logic.
- Experience with various transformers architectures and their transformations.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for working cross-functionally across Research and Product teams.
Responsibilities
- Play a critical role in shaping the future of LLM efforts at Apple.
- Transform models into highly capable, intelligent assistants.
- Tackle core training challenges in instruction following, tool use, deep reasoning, and architectural adaptation.
- Design models that deliver integrated and privacy-forward experiences across the Apple ecosystem.
- Collaborate with a fast-growing team of world-class experts to explore novel training strategies and evaluation methodologies.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
