Job description

The Senior Security Engineer in Security Research at Google is responsible for creating and maintaining a secure operating environment for users and developers. This role involves conducting vulnerability research and exploit development, particularly focusing on iOS, MacOS, and XNU. The engineer will work closely with software engineers to identify and rectify security flaws and vulnerabilities. The position requires a strong background in security assessments and engineering, as well as experience in leading technical teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
  • 8 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
  • 8 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
  • 3 years of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct vulnerability research and exploit development, specifically in iOS, MacOS, and XNU.
  • Create tools and infrastructure that enable the team to scale up research efforts.
  • Engage the wider defensive community by publishing research results.
  • Collaborate with other security engineers on the analysis of vulnerabilities reported by external parties.
