Job description
Netflix is seeking Android Software Engineers to join the Streaming & Discovery Experiences (SDX) teams. The focus of these roles is on building foundational infrastructure and advancing app architecture for the Netflix Android app, which serves hundreds of millions of users. Engineers will work with a modern Android stack and tackle challenges unique to Netflix's scale. Candidates should be passionate about creating high-impact software that enhances user experiences and supports fellow engineers.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of Android development and the ability to quickly learn new frameworks.
- Strong coding skills in Kotlin, with Java as a plus.
- A track record of shipping real features rather than just writing code that compiles.
- Ability to weigh trade-offs and make decisions with incomplete information.
- Strong communication skills and a genuine curiosity about other people's problems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship Android features and infrastructure that members interact with directly.
- Write clean, testable, and well-documented code backed by automated tests.
- Collaborate with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to scope work and weigh trade-offs.
- Stay updated on modern Android tooling and practices, and help modernize the codebase.
- Use GenAI tools as part of the development workflow and maintain proactive communication with the team.
Benefits
- Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
