Job description
The Senior Track Engineer role at Jacobs involves leading track planning, design, and operations analysis for various rail projects in New York City. This position is part of the Rail & Transit team, focusing on creating sustainable transportation solutions. The engineer will provide technical leadership and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Substantial years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Demonstrated years of professional experience on rail and transit projects.
- Professional expertise and proficiency with rail design software such as MicroStation, OpenRail, or Civil 3D.
- Strong knowledge of FRA, Class I Railroad standards, AREMA guidelines, and local railroad design criteria.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design development and delivery of work packages for various rail projects from feasibility to handover.
- Design track, station and platform layouts, transit alignments, and geometry improvements.
- Prepare and review track plans, profiles, calculations, and specifications.
- Develop and coordinate construction staging and access requirements in coordination with project stakeholders.
- Oversee discipline-specific QA/QC procedures and design reviews to ensure high-quality standards.
