Amazon Devices is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to join the Device Postponement Operations (DPO) team. This role involves designing, developing, and delivering automation control systems for manufacturing operations in the U.S. and EU/UK. The engineer will lead the architecture of PLC-based solutions, integrate robotics, and drive continuous improvement in system performance. The position requires strong technical leadership and project management skills to ensure timely and budget-compliant program delivery.

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of industrial controls and automation experience, or a Master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
• 3+ years of PLC programming experience.
• Experience designing or implementing integrated automation solutions such as material handling systems or manufacturing lines.
• Experience leading vendor/integrator relationships and managing external contractors.

• Own controls system architecture for complex manufacturing automation lines.
• Design and develop end-to-end automation systems from concept to commissioning.
• Design and deploy machine vision systems for automated inspection.
• Lead the full project lifecycle of automation programs.
• Manage external automation integrators, contractors, and vendors.
• Travel to manufacturing sites and vendor facilities for equipment FATs and line commissioning.
• Drive MES/SCADA integration strategies.
• Create comprehensive test and validation plans.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks at the program level.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
