The Staff Software Platform Engineer will be part of the Cloud Networking team at Robinhood, focusing on building scalable, secure, and reliable networking infrastructure. This role involves designing and evolving foundational platforms for large-scale services, particularly using AWS and Kubernetes. The engineer will work on service discovery, traffic management, and resilient service-to-service communication. The position emphasizes collaboration and technical leadership within a high-performing team dedicated to impactful work.

• Experience with AWS network communication fundamentals including VPCs, subnets, and security groups.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes and AWS EKS operations at scale.
• Strong understanding of HTTP/REST and gRPC protocol fundamentals.
• Strong understanding of Istio service mesh, with Envoy experience being a plus.
• Exceptional traffic communication troubleshooting skills across L3–L7.
• Strong scripting and programming skills in Python and Golang.
• Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
• Strong leadership skills to lead projects end-to-end.

• Lead technical strategy and execution for platform networking and traffic management.
• Design and operate resilient service mesh topologies with Istio.
• Define and implement platform standards for HTTP/REST and gRPC APIs.
• Build automation, tooling, and paved roads in Python and Go to improve developer productivity.
• Create and maintain Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code modules and pipelines.
• Partner with security, networking, and application teams for end-to-end solutions.
• Provide technical leadership by driving roadmaps and mentoring senior engineers.
