As a Senior Staff Software Developer on the Core Infrastructure team at Robinhood, you will play a crucial role in shaping the architectural evolution of service mesh, compute platforms, and infrastructure provisioning. This position focuses on building foundational systems that support 24/7 trading and global expansion. • Deep, hands-on expertise with Kubernetes internals including API server and scheduler mechanics.
• Deep working knowledge of Istio and/or Envoy at the source code level.
• HTTP/2 and gRPC wire-level knowledge including connection management and observability.
• Experience with Terraform at architectural scale including module design patterns and multi-region provisioning.
• Proven ability to drive cross-functional architectural change across large engineering organizations.

• Own service mesh architecture end-to-end and standardize Robinhood's Istio and Envoy deployment.
• Drive Kubernetes compute platform evolution and define the long-term direction for cluster lifecycle.
• Redesign infrastructure provisioning to transform Terraform into a scalable, self-service platform.
• Operate with source-level depth to diagnose and resolve issues at various layers of the platform.
• Define technical direction across teams by producing architecture proposals and leading design reviews.
