The role is for a senior Android engineer at Robinhood, focusing on redefining how users engage with their finances through intuitive mobile experiences. The Android team collaborates with Product, Design, and Backend Engineering to create high-quality trading products. This position requires in-person attendance at the Menlo Park, CA office at least three days a week. The ideal candidate will lead complex initiatives and drive technical direction while mentoring other engineers.

• 8+ years of professional experience developing Android applications, including experience leading large-scale or technically complex mobile initiatives.
• Deep proficiency with Kotlin and/or Java, and strong expertise in Android SDK fundamentals and architecture patterns such as MVVM.
• Strong experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines and Flow or RxJava, and common Android libraries such as Retrofit and Room.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
• Demonstrated track record of leading through ambiguity and mentoring senior engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• Define and drive the technical direction for Android experiences across high-impact product areas.
• Lead complex, ambiguous initiatives end to end, from early product and technical strategy through implementation and launch.
• Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, Backend Engineers, and Data Scientists to shape roadmaps and deliver impactful solutions.
• Establish and uphold engineering standards, architecture patterns, and development practices.
• Act as a technical leader and mentor by driving design reviews and raising the overall bar for execution and collaboration.
