Job description
The Developer Advocate Manager for Open Source at Databricks will lead a team of advocates focused on promoting open source projects and enhancing community engagement. This role requires a strong presence in open source communities and the ability to foster relationships between engineering teams and practitioners. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data and AI, along with a commitment to open source principles. Responsibilities include managing a developer relations team and driving awareness and adoption of Databricks' open source portfolio.
Requirements
- 8+ years of combined experience in developer relations or developer advocacy and in a hands-on technical role.
- 2+ years managing and growing a developer relations team.
- A substantial, verifiable open source track record with experience in project governance.
- Established relationships within the Apache Software Foundation and Linux Foundation ecosystems.
- Deep knowledge of the Open Lakehouse stack and a working understanding of the agentic open source landscape.
- Exceptional communication skills with a talent for articulating complex concepts.
Responsibilities
- Own developer relations for the open source portfolio end-to-end.
- Hire, level, and grow a team of Developer Advocates.
- Strengthen Databricks' standing in the Apache and Linux Foundation ecosystems.
- Establish repeatable advocacy approaches that can be adopted by the rest of DevRel.
- Grow external adoption and contribution across open source projects.
- Drive awareness and adoption of the Open Lakehouse and Omnigent through speaking engagements.
- Guide the creation of high-quality educational content.
- Expand and nurture communities by growing meetups and user groups.
- Represent the community inside R&D to address contributor friction.
- Apply AI-assisted workflows to increase team leverage while maintaining technical depth.
