The Technical Lead for Compute Fleet Management at Databricks will oversee the optimization and management of compute resources across major cloud platforms. This role is critical for enhancing cloud compute efficiency and ensuring high availability for Databricks' services. The Compute Infra Team is responsible for building and scaling foundational infrastructure that supports all Databricks products. The position requires a seasoned Principal Engineer with a strong background in large-scale infrastructure systems.

• Proven experience in leading complex, cross-team engineering initiatives from concept to execution.
• Deep, hands-on experience in developing and operating high-scale distributed systems on at least one major public cloud.
• Ability to drive consensus and establish technical direction across organizational boundaries.
• Exceptional skills in planning, tracking project progress, and managing complex dependencies.

• Pioneer fleet optimization by provisioning and pooling billions of cloud resources for peak performance.
• Build architecture that ensures horizontal scaling and resilience against failures.
• Lead the development of systems required to manage the compute platform effectively.
• Achieve and maintain 99.99% availability for all workloads.
• Drive utilization to 60% or higher while balancing efficiency with tolerance for cloud failures.
• Architect and enforce strong security and performance isolation for customer workloads.
