Job description
In this role, you will lead the Notebook Dataplane team at Databricks, focusing on running user code in the Notebook. The team is undergoing an architecture transformation to provide a reliable and low-latency service for stateful user code execution. As a Sr. Engineering Manager, you will drive the technical vision and execution for the service while managing a team of software engineers. This position is critical for the company's strategic investment in serverless products.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong track record of technical leadership and impact.
- 5+ years of engineering management experience.
- Experience designing, building, and operating scalable SaaS platforms.
- Expertise in distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and modern web application architectures.
- Strong system-level skills with experience in containers and Kubernetes.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the stateful user code execution service vision.
- Partner with serverless platform teams to build the service.
- Own the roadmap and execution, ensuring all team deliverables are met with high quality and on schedule.
- Define team best practices for engineering excellence, including design reviews, code quality, testing strategies, and performance optimizations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the stack.
