Job description

As a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer at Databricks, you will collaborate with customers to address their data and AI challenges using the Databricks platform. This hands-on, customer-facing role requires a blend of engineering expertise and business acumen to deliver impactful solutions. You will lead architecture and design decisions while working cross-functionally with various teams to ensure successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, focusing on customer empathy and measurable outcomes.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
  • Proficiency in coding with Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of two or more common Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
  • Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
  • Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models, and AI APIs.
  • Experience in designing and deploying performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications.
  • Experience with technical project delivery, managing scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong documentation and white-boarding skills.
  • Experience working with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across a broad stakeholder range.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to explore new technologies.
  • Willingness to travel to customers 20% of the time.
  • Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead impactful customer technical projects by delivering production-grade systems and designing reference architectures.
  • Guide strategic customers in implementing transformational big data projects, including end-to-end design, build, and deployment.
  • Advise customers on architecture and design, ensuring successful understanding and adoption of Databricks.
  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Databricks technical team, Project Manager, Architect, and Customer team to meet technical engagement needs.
  • Provide product and implementation feedback to Engineering and Databricks Customer Support.
  • Engage with customer teams to deeply understand their challenges and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Contribute to accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that scale impact across accounts.
