Job description

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Databricks, you will work closely with customers to develop and implement solutions for their data and AI challenges using the Databricks platform. This hands-on, customer-facing role requires a blend of engineering expertise and business acumen to drive impactful outcomes. You will lead architecture and design decisions while collaborating with various teams to ensure successful project delivery. The ideal candidate is adaptable, curious, and passionate about solving complex problems in a customer-centric manner.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
  • Proficiency in coding with Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
  • Familiarity with two or more common Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
  • Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD for production deployments.
  • Experience with MLOps, ML/AI models, and AI APIs.
  • Proven ability to design and deploy performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications.
  • Experience in managing technical project delivery, including scope and timelines.
  • Strong documentation and white-boarding skills.
  • Experience working with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across a broad stakeholder range.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to explore new technologies.
  • Willingness to travel to customers 20% of the time.
  • Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead impactful customer technical projects by delivering production-grade systems and designing reference architectures.
  • Guide strategic customers in implementing transformational big data projects from design to deployment.
  • Advise customers on architecture and design to ensure successful adoption of Databricks.
  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Databricks technical team and customer teams to meet engagement needs.
  • Provide product and implementation feedback to Engineering and Customer Support for rapid issue resolution.
  • Engage with customer stakeholders to understand challenges and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of reusable assets, frameworks, and best practices to scale impact across accounts.
