As a Software Engineer on the Public Sector team at Databricks, you will focus on backend engineering for the Data Intelligence Platform, ensuring it operates at scale within sovereign and air-gapped cloud environments. The role emphasizes building and scaling distributed systems that support one of the largest data and AI infrastructures globally. You will tackle challenges related to compute efficiency and system resilience, optimizing services for high-consequence public sector environments. This position requires a strong technical background and a commitment to security and reliability.

• Candidates must hold a current TS/SCI clearance.
• Possession of a current polygraph is highly desired.
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Deep understanding of Distributed Systems, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Strong production-level experience in at least one of: Java, Scala, Go, or C++.
• Experience building and deploying large-scale SaaS or cloud-native applications.

• Design and implement highly available backend services using Scala, Java, Go, C++/C or similar.
• Solve complex architectural trade-offs around concurrency, storage, and networking.
• Drive 'zero-waste' compute initiatives to optimize engine and services.
• Partner with Production Engineering to ensure backend services meet security standards.
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of mission-critical code.
