Job description
As a software engineer on the Runtime team at Databricks, you will be responsible for building next-generation distributed data storage and processing systems. The team focuses on creating solutions that outperform specialized SQL query engines while supporting a variety of workloads. You will work on projects that include Apache Spark™, Delta Lake, and performance engineering. This role requires a strong foundation in algorithms and distributed systems to meet the needs of data teams worldwide.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of production level experience in either Java, Scala, or C++.
- Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures and their real-world use cases.
- Experience with distributed systems, databases, and big data systems such as Apache Spark™ and Hadoop.
- Optional: MS or PhD in databases or distributed systems.
Responsibilities
- Build and optimize distributed data storage and processing systems.
- Develop reliable and high-performance services for data storage and access.
- Create higher-level abstractions for managing data pipelines.
- Design and implement the next generation query optimizer and execution engine.
- Work towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables.
