Job description
GEICO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Underwriting Services Team. This role focuses on building and scaling the next generation of underwriting platforms while revamping existing tier-1 underwriting services. The engineer will drive the transformation of the insurance business by leveraging AI to enhance consumer experiences. The team collaborates closely with underwriting operations to streamline processes and improve decision-making efficiency.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
- Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java or C#
- In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms
- Understanding of service-oriented architecture and extensible REST/gRPC APIs
- Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service provider
Responsibilities
- Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle
- Participate in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization
- Utilize programming languages like C#, Java or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases
- Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams
- Build product definition and leverage technical skills to drive towards the right solution
