Job description
The Distinguished Engineer at GEICO will lead the development of next-generation data center networking solutions that support the company's Private Cloud and AI/ML initiatives. This role serves as the highest technical authority for network architecture and automation, focusing on creating reliable and scalable cloud infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to establish a unified infrastructure architecture while mentoring senior engineers. This position is crucial for shaping GEICO's long-term technology strategy and ensuring operational excellence.
Requirements
- 15+ years of networking, infrastructure, or cloud engineering experience.
- Advanced understanding of Layer 2/Layer 3 protocols including BGP, EVPN, and MPLS.
- Strong software development skills in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, or Java.
- Experience designing networking solutions for private, hybrid, and public cloud environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
Responsibilities
- Define the long-term architectural vision for GEICO's data center network infrastructure.
- Establish standards and reference architectures for data center fabrics and cloud networking.
- Lead the design and implementation of software-defined networking capabilities across cloud environments.
- Partner with various engineering teams to deliver integrated cloud networking solutions.
- Mentor Principal, Senior Staff, and Staff Engineers across multiple organizations.
