Job description
The Distinguished Engineer role at GEICO focuses on leading the development of advanced recommendation systems to enhance customer intelligence. This position is part of the AI Modeling and Research team, which aims to transform GEICO into an AI-first company. The role involves close collaboration with product, engineering, and operations leadership to drive technical decisions and best practices in machine learning modeling. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Director of AI Modeling and Research and will play a key role in mentoring a high-performing engineering team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI/ML.
- 15+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML in a production environment.
- 10+ years of hands-on expertise in AI/ML for Recommendation.
- Successful leadership experience in leading technical decisions for teams of size 15 or more.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- 5+ years of experience in building cross-functional partnerships with product and business.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, design, and delivery of recommendation systems for major customer journeys.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define technical roadmaps aligned with business goals.
- Architect scalable and reliable model ecosystems for all types of recommendation use cases.
- Establish and drive best practices in ML modeling, data organization, model management, and observability.
- Mentor and grow a high-performing team of engineers focused on ML modeling for recommendation.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards.
- Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Provide consultation to the Head of AI and Chief AI Officer regarding recommendation technologies.
