Job description

GEICO is seeking a highly motivated Staff Engineer – Full Stack to lead the development of a full stack platform within the capacity management organization. This role focuses on building high-performance, low maintenance applications to address infrastructure demand in a hybrid cloud environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both front-end and back-end development, utilizing open-source technologies. The position emphasizes collaboration, technical leadership, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience with technologies such as Java, TypeScript, ReactJS, BootstrapJS, Python, Golang, Docker, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
  • 4+ years of experience in open-source frameworks.
  • 3+ years of experience with architecture and design.
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and thought leadership across multiple layers of the stack, focusing on fullstack web application development.
  • Lead the development of UI using React, Typescript, and Bootstrap on a Django framework.
  • Contribute to the architecture and development of microservices using Golang, Python, Django, and Kafka.
  • Design and implement loosely coupled, scalable microservices.
  • Own and drive one to two service areas, ensuring successful delivery from requirement analysis to production.
  • Act as a role model and mentor to senior and junior engineers.
  • Maintain excellent communication with partner teams and leads.
  • Proactively explore unknown product requirements and design solutions.
  • Leverage experience in deploying web applications in Kubernetes environments.
