The Staff Engineer, Software Engineering (SRE Availability and Incident Management) at GEICO is responsible for leading the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap to enhance system performance and delivery. • 10+ years of professional software development experience focusing on SRE and Incident/Change Management
• 8+ years of experience with architecture and design
• 6+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
• 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
• 2+ years' experience with automated testing including Unit, Integration, and End-to-End functional testing preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

• Provide technical and thought leadership to the enterprise across multiple areas
• Collaborate with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems
• Develop and execute a technical software development strategy for various domains
• Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of solutions
• Utilize programming languages such as Python, C#, SQL, and NoSQL databases
• Mentor and coach junior engineers to strengthen technical expertise within the team
• Share best practices and improve processes across teams
• Analyze costs and forecast, incorporating them into business plans
• Support resource requirements and evaluate operational processes to ensure desired results
