The Network Development Engineer will work within the Core Platform team to design and develop networking solutions for Amazon's extensive global network infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with Software, Operations, and Engineering teams to create automated solutions that enhance network reliability and performance. The engineer will identify areas for improvement and implement software and design changes to optimize network operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to impact Amazon's fulfillment networks significantly.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of experience with IP networking fundamentals and extensive application of IP protocols
• 8+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, and ISIS
• 8+ years of experience working with major network operating systems like Cisco IOS and/or Junos
• 3+ years of experience with Unix/Linux and scripting in Python, Perl, or shell
• Master's degree in Computer Science, MBA, or equivalent experience is a plus
• Expert-level certifications such as CCIE or JNCIE are a plus
• Expert-level scripting and/or automation skills in a network environment

• Identify, develop, and deliver technical solutions that improve network availability, cost, and performance
• Partner with peer teams to understand customer problems and find technological solutions using wired networking technologies
• Define and meter the availability of existing and future network solutions to meet customer needs
• Identify and deliver solutions that reduce operational impact and enable scalable, resilient, and cost-optimized services
• Dive deep into complex problems to identify root causes of customer impacts and develop corrective actions
• Innovate and automate infrastructure testing, deployment, operations, and life-cycle management
• Contribute to a global organization that provides 24x7 escalation service on a shift rotation basis
