Job description
As a Network Development Engineer II on the Edge team, you will design and implement scalable and resilient edge network architecture to enhance Amazon's global fulfillment and operations network. You will work autonomously on significant portions of edge network implementation, focusing on improving network capacity, availability, and security. This role involves collaborating with software, operations, and engineering teams to develop innovative solutions while leveraging automation and modern tooling. You will also have the opportunity to mentor fellow engineers and contribute to a variety of tactical and strategic projects.
Requirements
- 1+ years of automation scripting experience using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl.
- 4+ years of experience in a network-focused hands-on technical role working with IP routing protocols/technologies and platforms in large scale data center and/or WAN network environments.
- 4+ years of experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms to support IP network and/or networking systems.
- Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture and core technologies.
- Experience with routers, server load balancers, and firewall vendor platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, Arista, Brocade, Extreme, Citrix, F5, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.
Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and deliver technical solutions that improve the availability of network technologies.
- Partner with peer teams to understand customer problems and find technological solutions utilizing wired networking technologies.
- Define and meter the availability of existing and future network solutions to ensure they meet customer needs.
- Identify and deliver solutions that reduce operational impact to customers while enabling scalable and resilient services.
- Dive deep on complex problems to identify root causes of customer impacts and develop corrective actions.
- Innovate and automate infrastructure testing, deployment, operations, and life-cycle management.
- Define the strategy for future team processes and tools to improve maintenance and management efficiency.
- Contribute to hiring and developing top talent at Amazon.
