Job description
As a Principal Database Platform Engineer at Boston Consulting Group, you will join a global team focused on building and operating cloud-native database platforms primarily on AWS. This hands-on role emphasizes end-to-end ownership of database infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and automation. You will collaborate with various teams to translate business needs into practical platform solutions while mentoring engineers and leading design reviews. The position requires a strong background in database engineering and a genuine interest in evolving database technologies, particularly in the context of AI and analytics.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8 to 10 years of experience in database, platform, or infrastructure engineering
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and AWS-managed database services in production environments
- Experience with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation
- Solid understanding of how databases perform at scale
Responsibilities
- Design and operate cloud-native database platforms on AWS with a focus on scalability and resilience.
- Build automated, self-service capabilities using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and Git-based workflows.
- Define and implement reusable platform patterns and standards across a multi-cloud environment.
- Embed SRE principles including observability and incident response into day-to-day operations.
- Partner with architecture, application, and data teams to translate needs into practical platform solutions.
