Job description

The Software Development Engineer will work within the Data Center Builder Tools team, focusing on the device manager service that ensures AWS data center devices run the correct software at scale. This role involves leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools to enhance software quality and streamline workflows. The engineer will collaborate with a diverse team of professionals to deliver high standards of safety and security while maintaining operational excellence. The position emphasizes building software that impacts real-world data center operations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 1+ years of Python experience
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
  • Experience working in the hardware or software lab
  • Experience working with Rust programming language

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable software that runs on data center devices and in the cloud services that manage them.
  • Integrate AI-powered development tools into daily workflows.
  • Drive technical design decisions and lead code reviews with a focus on security and reliability.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that leverage automated quality gates and intelligent deployment strategies.
  • Collaborate with product managers, hardware engineers, and security specialists to translate requirements into production-ready solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers on software engineering best practices.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and advocate for their adoption.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and operational reviews to improve system availability.
