Job description

The Systems Engineer role within Amazon's Robotics Delivery & Packaging Innovations (RDPI) team focuses on deploying advanced industrial automation and robotics technologies across North America. This position requires strong technical skills in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as experience in project management and collaboration with various stakeholders. The team is dedicated to enhancing the speed, quality, and cost-effectiveness of technology deployment in Amazon's fulfillment centers. The role involves significant travel, with expectations of being on-site at project locations upwards of 75% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field
  • 1+ year’s experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models
  • 1+ year’s experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems
  • Proven experience working on hardware integration or complex mechanical-electrical or networked industrial equipment
  • Practical understanding of network fundamentals such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, and HTTP
  • Certified in OSHA, ANSI, or other Automation Safety Certifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee large scale project planning, installation, and launch of industrial automation technologies
  • Support and guide installation of robotics, packaging, and sortation technologies at Amazon fulfillment centers
  • Develop detailed knowledge of the operation of robotic systems and guide installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of these systems
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, product managers, and internal customers
  • Manage day-to-day project scheduling and budget management
  • Lead teams of other engineers on projects and ensure alignment on program status
