The Omni team is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to enhance a platform that supports shared gaming experiences across Amazon's ecosystem. This role involves owning the architecture and delivery of large-scale distributed systems utilized by various games and partner teams. The ideal candidate will tackle complex technical challenges and influence the development of reusable platform capabilities. Collaboration with game teams to understand their needs and drive solutions from design to production is essential.

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience in the Games Industry, supporting title development, release, or live operations
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Design and build highly scalable, reliable, and secure distributed services supporting game and player experiences.
• Own significant technical areas within Omni, from architecture and design through implementation, launch, and operations.
• Work with game teams to understand their requirements and translate them into reusable platform capabilities.
• Lead technical designs that span multiple services and engineering teams, evaluating trade-offs around scalability and availability.
• Establish APIs, data models, and service boundaries that allow Omni capabilities to evolve.
• Improve the operational excellence of the platform through better observability and automated recovery.
• Identify architectural and technical debt that could limit long-term growth and drive investments to address it.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to define technical roadmaps and influence platform direction.
• Take ownership during production issues, identify root causes, and drive engineering improvements.
