Job description
The role is for a software engineer to join Apple's UI Compositing team, focusing on the core compositing infrastructure that supports all Apple devices. The team is dedicated to building efficient compositing systems and optimizing for new hardware capabilities. Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and operating systems concepts
- Ability to write code in at least one lower-level language like C, C++, or similar
- Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environments and using command-line tools
- Some experience with debugging from school projects or internships
- Enthusiasm for learning complex systems and new technologies
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and improve through mentorship and code reviews
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work well with others
- Adaptability and interest in working across different technical areas
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the core compositing infrastructure that powers Apple devices
- Work on scheduler architecture, event processing, and security rendering
- Optimize compositing systems for new hardware capabilities
- Engage in cross-platform feature development
- Learn and apply concepts related to memory management, threading, and concurrency
- Participate in code reviews and mentorship opportunities
- Develop hands-on experience with C, C++, or Objective-C
- Explore performance optimization and system-level programming challenges
