Apple's Platform Architecture team is seeking a Simulation and Control Systems Engineer to develop advanced thermal and power management algorithms. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and validate algorithms for complex thermal and electrical systems. The engineer will work closely with electrical and thermal engineering teams to interpret system requirements and ensure robust integration of control algorithms. • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science or similar degree.
• 10 years of relevant industry experience.
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, or Computer Science with a focus on control systems or robotics.
• Experience in control systems development including modeling, algorithm design, simulation, implementation, and testing.
• Proficiency in C++.
• Experience in Python or MATLAB.
• Experience implementing control algorithms on embedded microcontroller platforms.
• Strong knowledge of system identification, estimation theory, and statistical learning methods.
• Knowledge of optimal and robust control, adaptive control, model predictive control, and task and trajectory planning.
• Experience with software engineering workflows, including Git, code review, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Design, implement, debug, and validate control and estimation algorithms for complex thermal and electrical systems.
• Collaborate with electrical and thermal engineering teams to interpret system requirements and constraints.
• Partner with software engineering teams to ensure robust and efficient integration of control algorithms.
• Design and execute experiments for modeling and validation, and collect and analyze data.
• Identify potential issues and propose thoughtful fixes and architectural decisions to ensure system performance and reliability.
