Job description
The Systems Development Engineer role at AWS Hardware Engineering focuses on maintaining and developing server platforms at a global scale. The team is responsible for designing next-generation cloud infrastructure that powers AWS services. This position involves analyzing hardware telemetry, developing automation, and collaborating with various teams to ensure system reliability and performance. The ideal candidate will work on both hardware and software challenges, contributing to the overall health of the fleet.
Requirements
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience
- 3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, and operating systems
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals including networking, storage, and operating systems
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
Responsibilities
- Analyze hardware failure patterns using fleet telemetry and system event logs to identify root causes.
- Contribute to predictive failure detection using sensor data and error trending.
- Build and maintain operational dashboards and metrics for platform fleet health.
- Develop and maintain automation for hardware test, firmware qualification, and capacity recovery workflows.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, manufacturing, and networking teams to validate new compute solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex system-level issues in production environments.
