The Applied Machine Learning team at Apple is seeking an experienced software engineer to join their Platform Reliability Engineering team. This role focuses on designing, operating, and optimizing large-scale distributed systems that support generative AI, machine learning, and big data platforms. The engineer will leverage cutting-edge open source technologies in hybrid cloud environments to build resilient infrastructure. This position involves owning mission-critical platform components and collaborating across teams to enhance Apple's data and AI infrastructure.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• Proficiency in at least one systems programming language such as Python, Go, or Java
• Strong expertise in distributed systems architecture with knowledge of reliability, scalability, and containerization principles
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and data processing infrastructure like Kubernetes, Spark, Flink, or Ray
• 7+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering managing distributed systems at scale
• Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving complex production incidents and performance bottlenecks
• Familiarity with open source codebases and ability to understand complex system implementations
• Strong understanding of system architecture and collaboration skills across engineering teams
• Hands-on experience with big data technologies and/or ML/AI platforms
• Strong foundational knowledge of Linux, databases, and security principles
• Proactive mindset with a commitment to optimizing reliability and uptime
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
