Job description

Amazon is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join the Ring Quick Action Service (QAS) team, which focuses on leveraging data to enhance customer experiences. This role involves building and scaling systems for data collection, storage, and analysis, while also enhancing observability across various platforms. The team consists of seasoned professionals dedicated to connecting millions of devices and deriving meaningful insights from data. Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Experience operating highly available, distributed systems for data extraction and processing
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development life cycle
  • Experience in written and verbal communication skills to engage with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, or Go
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with observability tools, particularly log analytics platforms

Responsibilities

  • Own the overall systems development technical life cycle for team services
  • Guide the evolution of the team to offer real-time search and analysis across organizations
  • Develop tools to scale and manage large data clusters and automate data onboarding
  • Maintain and support new integrations for various solutions and APIs
  • Liaison with service teams to understand existing data sets and evaluate emerging technologies
  • Understand existing data streams and develop metrics to measure customer experience
  • Evaluate the current ecosystem for log analytic plugins and write custom plugins
  • Define a strategy for software testing and lead code review sessions
  • Implement optimal security practices while scaling data services
  • Contribute to operational excellence practices and perform on-call rotations
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align solutions with business needs
  • Ensure best practices and architectural guidelines are followed
