Job description

The IT Support Engineer I role at Amazon focuses on providing high-quality support for computer hardware, operating systems, and enterprise application software. The position is part of the OpsTech IT team, which delivers global IT support to Amazon Operations. Candidates will leverage their technical skills to implement solutions and troubleshoot problems in a fast-paced environment. This role requires self-motivation and the ability to work collaboratively with teams to overcome challenges.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • 2+ years of professional experience
  • 2+ years of troubleshooting in a multi-user high availability environment experience
  • 2+ years of networking experience, including DNS, DHCP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP
  • 2+ years of PC repair, troubleshooting, deployment, and liquidation experience
  • 1+ years of IT client, server, and network service delivery experience
  • Fluent in Cisco/networking and either Linux and/or Microsoft
  • Possess and maintain a current, valid Driver License
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco/CCNA, Linux (Redhat), Microsoft hardware (installation), AWS, or other industry relevant certifications
  • Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
  • Experience communicating complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing, planning, and managing time
  • Experience with written and verbal communication and presentation
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Perform network engineering and troubleshooting, data cabling, and systems administration in various software and hardware environments.
  • Ensure infrastructure networking and computing systems remain available during production hours.
  • Interact with management and staff to provide analytical and technical assistance for continuous improvement of IT solutions.
  • Manage local technical projects.
  • Maintain or create policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Identify root causes of operational issues and process inefficiencies.
  • Move up to 49lbs as well as stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time.
