The SDE 2 role in the OAS Offers Tech organization focuses on building software systems powered by generative AI to enhance customer shopping experiences on Amazon. The team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and availability of product catalogs while tackling challenges at the intersection of large-scale distributed systems and AI. This position involves designing, delivering, and operating software features that leverage deep learning models. The role also includes mentoring junior engineers and driving operational excellence across the systems owned by the team.

• 3+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle.
• Master's degree in computer science or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems.
• Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture and optimization techniques.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#.

• Own end-to-end design, development, deployment, and operational health of services leveraging large language models and generative AI.
• Design and deliver distributed software features and systems powering production selection processing pipelines.
• Develop deep expertise in Amazon's catalog systems and drive their evolution.
• Partner with applied scientists and senior engineers to process massive datasets and scale ML models.
• Influence tech strategy around data enrichment pipelines and model optimization frameworks.
• Prototype new technologies and drive generative AI techniques from experimentation into production.
• Own operational excellence for your systems and mentor teammates through code reviews and design discussions.
