The Site Reliability Engineer Spring Co-op position at IBM is designed for undergraduate students seeking hands-on experience in a collaborative environment. This role focuses on building, deploying, and maintaining systems for IBM's client business while ensuring optimal reliability and customer experience. Requirements
- Must be actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program at the time of application and returning to complete the degree after the co-op.
- Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) at an IBM location for 16 weeks between January 19 and May 7.
- Co-op requires a full-time commitment; students should not be enrolled in concurrent coursework during the co-op term.
- Knowledge in monitoring/observability, issue response, and troubleshooting for optimal system performance.
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge or experience in scripting languages such as Python, Go, or Bash.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the health of production systems and services around the clock to ensure continuous reliability.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to provide initial assessments and possible workarounds for production issues.
- Leverage Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools to deploy services and configuration changes at enterprise scale.
- Apply security patches and upgrades while collaborating with Product support for issue resolution.
