Job description
The Linux Systems, Hardware and Infrastructure Services Engineer role within the Specialised Electronic Trading Infrastructure (SETI) team focuses on designing, building, and maintaining robust infrastructure automation systems for algorithmic trading. The position requires a deep understanding of Linux systems and hardware, as well as collaboration with various teams to ensure efficient and compliant operations. The engineer will also mentor less experienced staff and drive continuous improvement in infrastructure practices. Requirements
- A comprehensive understanding of Linux systems administration, hardware and configuration management techniques.
- Advanced Linux and network troubleshooting skills, including knowledge of standard debugging tools such as tcpdump and strace.
- Experience using the Python programming language to automate common tasks.
- Familiarity with modern development tools and practices including git, jenkins, and continuous integration.
- Experience with architecting large scale, robust, resilient and supportable systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, engineer and support Linux server-based solutions for the algorithmic trading business.
- Utilize advanced features of the Morgan Stanley Linux configuration platform for system configurations.
- Evaluate specialized hardware components such as FPGAs for supportability in an enterprise environment.
- Collaborate closely with development groups, system administrators, and other infrastructure engineers.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the Linux-based electronic trading infrastructure platform.
