The Amazon Managed Streaming for Kafka (MSK) team is looking for engineers passionate about data streaming and open source. This role involves contributing to the core data plane stack of the MSK service and the Kafka platform. Candidates will design and build new features, improve performance, and prototype solutions to enhance customer experience. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of open source and Amazon-internal software.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and testing
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Collaborate with other engineers to build a large scale AWS service
• Design and build new features for the MSK service
• Make performance improvements to the Kafka platform
• Identify and investigate new technologies for data streaming
• Test and review changes to deliver an exceptional customer experience
