Job description
The Wallet, Payments and Commerce (WPC) Cloud Engineering team at Apple is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to tackle complex problems and drive scalable solutions. This role involves leading significant aspects of the cloud platform, setting technical direction, and enhancing quality and security across the organization. The focus is on transforming the customer digital wallet experience through innovative cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud infrastructure and a strong background in security-first architecture.
Requirements
- 8+ years of cloud infrastructure and platform engineering experience with a track record of owning systems end-to-end in production.
- Experience building platforms and platform-as-a-product with a focus on internal developers as customers.
- Proficiency in Kubernetes and Containers with experience in multi-tenant, multi-cluster, multi-region environments.
- Deep experience with Infrastructure as Code, specifically Crossplane and Terraform.
- Expertise in security-first architecture with Policy as Code tools like Kyverno and OPA/Gatekeeper.
- Public cloud expertise across AWS, GCP, and/or Azure.
- Experience with GitOps and CI/CD using tools such as Flux, Jenkins, and Kargo.
- Strong networking fundamentals including NATs, TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and mTLS.
- Knowledge of Linux internals and systems-level troubleshooting.
- Experience with microservices, distributed systems, service meshes, and observability stacks.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive technical direction in cross-functional environments.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of work experience is highly desirable.
