The On-device Machine Learning Performance Engineer will work within Apple's On-Device Machine Learning team, focusing on optimizing the performance of machine learning models on Apple hardware. This role involves deep analysis of ML inference across various components, including CPU, GPU, and Apple Neural Engine. The engineer will utilize popular ML frameworks to ensure optimal performance on Apple Silicon devices. The position requires a strong understanding of computer architecture and a passion for machine learning model architectures.

• Technical expertise in computer architecture, performance, memory, power, and ML model architectures.
• Experience with ML inference, quantization, performance, and accuracy.
• Familiarity with popular ML architectures such as LLMs, Diffusion models, and CNNs.
• Highly proficient in Python, C++, and shell scripting.
• Exceptional clarity in verbal and written communication.
• Masters or PhDs in Computer Science or relevant disciplines.

• Conduct deep analysis of ML inference from the software stack to hardware debug.
• Generate utilities and debug tools to extract, analyze, and report performance metrics.
