As an engineer in the Special Projects group at Apple, you will be part of an innovative team focused on the intersection of simulation and AI/ML. This role involves working on ambitious projects in the early stages of development, emphasizing the shipping of simulation technology to support AI/ML initiatives. • Strong software engineering fundamentals and deep proficiency in Python
• Experience building and deploying HTTP services such as FastAPI or Flask
• Experience with relational databases like Postgres
• Experience with frontend technologies such as React
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure including containers and Kubernetes
• Solid command of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP and HTTP
• Strong operating systems background on Linux or macOS
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Experience with virtualization and managing fleets of virtual or physical machines
• Experience building test infrastructure or CI/CD systems at scale
• Working knowledge of a systems language such as Swift or C++
• Familiarity with Apple platforms
• Experience with authentication and authorization in production systems
• Experience serving or evaluating machine learning models in production

• Develop multiple aspects of tooling including the launcher, runtime, frontend, backend, and database
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across the organization
• Drive improvements to the simulation system to ensure prompt and correct results
• Prototype and iterate on ideas to achieve high-quality implementations
• Debug across various layers of the system from web UI to operating system
