Job description
As an ASIC Design Engineer in the Pixel IP design team, you will play a crucial role in designing high-performance, low-power pixel processing engines for Apple's next-generation system-on-chips. You will collaborate with architecture, design, and verification teams to create digital signal processing pipelines for capturing and displaying images and video. This position requires a strong focus on crafting elegant solutions to complex challenges while ensuring efficient functionality for millions of customers. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and efficiency of Apple products.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience in ASIC front-end design.
- Experience in SoC front-end ASIC RTL digital logic design using Verilog or System Verilog.
- Previous experience in media, video, pixel, or display designs is preferred.
- Familiarity with low-power design techniques such as clock- and power-gating is a plus.
- Familiarity with common on-chip bus protocols such as AMBA (AXI, AHB, APB) is preferred.
- Experience in front-end implementation tasks such as synthesis, timing, area/power analysis, linting, CDC/RDC, and logic equivalence checks.
- Knowledge of ASIC/FPGA design methodology and relevant scripting languages (Python, Perl, TCL).
Responsibilities
- Design digital hardware by writing high-quality RTL or using a high-level synthesis methodology.
- Write detailed micro-architectural specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore solutions that maximize performance while minimizing power and area.
- Synthesize designs and optimize for power, timing, and area.
- Work closely with design verification and formal verification teams to debug and verify functionality and performance.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
