Job description
As an ASIC Design Engineer in the Pixel IP design team, you will play a crucial role in designing high-performance, low-power pixel processing engines for Apple products. You will collaborate with architecture, design, and verification teams to ensure the seamless handling of images and video. This position focuses on creating digital signal processing pipelines that enhance the user experience across Apple devices. Your contributions will directly impact the functionality and performance of products used by millions of customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Extensive experience in SoC front-end ASIC RTL digital logic design using Verilog and System Verilog.
- Deep experience in media, video, pixel, or display designs is preferred.
- Practiced in low-power design techniques such as clock- and power-gating.
- Strong collaboration skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with common on-chip bus protocols such as AMBA (AXI, AHB, APB).
- Experience in front-end implementation tasks such as synthesis, timing, area/power analysis, linting, CDC/RDC, and logic equivalence checks.
- Industry exposure to and knowledge of ASIC design methodology including familiarity with relevant scripting languages (Python, Perl, TCL).
Responsibilities
- Design digital hardware by writing high-quality RTL or using a high-level synthesis methodology, with embedded assertions and cover points.
- Write detailed micro-architectural specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore solutions that maximize performance while minimizing power and area.
- Synthesize designs and optimize for power, timing, and area.
- Work closely with design verification and formal verification teams to debug and verify functionality and performance.
- Work independently and manage deliverables to align with project goals and support cross-functional engineering efforts.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
