This role involves designing, developing, and validating high-voltage battery packs from concept to production. The engineer will need to demonstrate strong technical depth in battery pack design and system-level thinking. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to ensure the successful integration of mechanical and electrical components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience taking a mechanical design from concept through prototype to production
  • Battery pack mechanical design experience including cell-to-pack architecture and module design
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or NX
  • Understanding of high-voltage safety practices and requirements
  • Familiarity with thermal runaway mitigation techniques
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA)
  • Knowledge of tolerance analysis and working with suppliers on tooling
  • Experience with prototyping and validation testing

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical architecture for high-voltage Li-Ion battery packs
  • Create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using CATIA with GD&T
  • Develop packaging concepts balancing energy density, safety, and manufacturability
  • Perform FEA and tolerance stack-up analysis to validate designs
  • Plan and execute prototype builds and validation testing
  • Design to high-voltage safety requirements and ensure compliance with applicable standards
  • Develop verification test plans to verify designs against relevant standards
  • Collaborate with electrical, BMS, systems, and safety engineers
  • Maintain engineering documentation and manage changes through PLM
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in cost, weight, safety, and manufacturability

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
