The Amazon Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) is seeking a Research Engineer with expertise in hardware design for cryogenic environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering principles and experience in driving designs through full product development cycles. This role involves working on high-density packaging solutions and cryogenic mechanical designs for quantum processor systems. The team is focused on developing innovative solutions to enhance thermal performance and EMI mitigation in quantum computing applications.

• Bachelor's degree or above in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent.
• 6+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 5+ years with a Master's degree, or 2+ years with a PhD.
• Experience with cryogenic mechanical design and product development lifecycle.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturing.
• Expertise in Finite Element Analysis (Thermal, Mechanical, EM) and 3D CAD (SolidWorks).
• Experience with quantum hardware development and quantum processor packaging.
• Knowledge of RF/Microwave principles.
• Experience with PCB design and manufacturing.

• Collaborate across teams to develop cost-effective solutions for quantum processor systems.
• Design high-density packaging solutions for quantum processor units.
• Create cryogenic mechanical designs for signal delivery systems.
• Conduct simulation-driven designs to reduce EMI sources within the qubit environment.
• Own the end-to-end product development process from requirements to final delivery.
• Participate in design and test reviews and communicate with internal stakeholders.
• Refine and define standards and processes for operational excellence.
