Job description
The Manager, Cost Engineering at Rivian will lead a team of Cost Engineers based remotely in Mexico, focusing on developing full-vehicle bottom-up cost estimation capabilities. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on responsibilities, requiring effective communication and team supervisory skills. The manager will act as a bridge between US-based engineering and the Mexico team, ensuring collaboration and precise execution across vehicle programs. The position is based in Irvine, CA and reports to the Senior Manager of Cost Engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field is required.
- 2+ years of team leadership experience is preferred.
- 6+ years of relevant experience at an OEM, Tier 1 Manufacturer, or similar company is required.
- Proven experience in manufacturing processes to support cost model development is necessary.
- Proficiency in navigating CAD models in CATIA or similar software is required.
- Practical knowledge of Value Analysis/Value Engineering techniques is essential.
- Spanish language proficiency is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to interview, hire, and onboard a high-performing team of Cost Engineers.
- Manage task completion and update cross-functional teams on project status and resource allocation.
- Define milestones and identify potential risks to ensure timely delivery of cost models.
- Support the implementation of a comprehensive cost engineering strategic roadmap.
- Establish training programs and best practices to enhance team capabilities.
- Oversee cost modeling across major vehicle systems to support sustaining programs.
- Drive evaluation of engineering change requests and provide cost impact assessments.
- Review and validate cost estimates submitted by team members.
- Cultivate a collaborative team environment and encourage knowledge sharing.
- Provide hands-on cost engineering expertise to support costing initiatives.
