The Senior Platform Software Engineer will be part of the Core Data and Intelligence team at Apple, focusing on building and operating the Data Engineering Platform. This role involves taking ownership of platform systems, ensuring high standards of versioning, deployment, and operational excellence. The engineer will work closely with other teams to enhance the developer experience and set technical direction across the organization. The position requires a blend of hands-on engineering and strategic thinking to drive innovation in data and machine learning engineering.

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time spent building platform, infrastructure, or developer-facing systems
• Strong Go programming skills with a track record of shipping and operating production backend services and command-line tools
• Deep hands-on Kubernetes experience, including Helm and resource management
• Demonstrated ownership of CI/CD pipelines and release engineering
• Strong relational database fundamentals and experience with schema design and migrations
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and concurrency in Go
• Experience owning services in production, including incident response and telemetry
• Demonstrated ability to author reusable skills for AI-assisted development tools
• Experience with Terraform or OpenTofu beyond consumption
• Familiarity with policy-as-code and configuration-as-code practices
• Practical command of versioning and immutability in real systems
• Experience building CLI or terminal-UI developer tools
• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry instrumentation and alerting
• Working knowledge of mTLS-based workload identity and secret management systems
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or CockroachDB
• Exposure to data governance and privacy engineering requirements
• Experience serving other engineering teams with a focus on multi-tenancy and shared ownership

• Design, build, and operate the Go services at the heart of the platform
• Own versioning and immutability as a first-class platform concern
• Define how services ship on the platform, including deployment contracts and environment promotion models
• Drive operational excellence for foundational services, including service level objectives and alerting
• Own the developer experience, including command-line tools, project scaffolding, and documentation
• Set technical direction by defining engineering standards and mentoring engineers
• Evaluate emerging technology and help scale AI-assisted development practices across the team
