The Apple Gift Card team is seeking a skilled software engineer to innovate the future of gifting within the Apple ecosystem. This role involves designing and building distributed systems that ensure secure and high-volume payment experiences globally. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- Experience architecting, building, and operating mission-critical distributed systems at large scale.
- Proficiency with Java or Kotlin and Spring.
- Experience with high-volume REST and/or gRPC services.
- Experience designing for containerization and orchestration, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with observability strategies and tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
- A working understanding of security, privacy, and cryptography.
- Experience optimizing SQL/NoSQL databases for scale.
- Domain knowledge of payments, commerce, gift cards, or financial systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and build distributed systems for secure payment and gifting experiences.
- Own the full product lifecycle from architecture to deployment and operations.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and product teams across Apple.
- Shape early development investigations and prototypes.
- Define product objectives with cross-functional partners.
- Lead complex projects from conception to production.
- Evaluate and advocate for new technologies and patterns.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
