Job description
The lead iCloud Insights Engineer will be part of the Apple Services Data Science & Analytics team, focusing on developing data products and applications to enhance decision-making across the business. This role involves designing AI-assisted web applications that make large-scale data more accessible and actionable. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to improve customer experiences and drive business growth. A strong emphasis is placed on independent decision-making and mentoring within a culture of open feedback and rapid iteration.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in Data Visualization, Data/Analytics Engineering, Data Science, or Software Engineering roles.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying custom web applications using frameworks such as React, Streamlit, Flask, Django, or Next.js.
- Practical experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into applications or workflows.
- Strong SQL skills and experience designing data models and pipelines.
- Proficiency with data visualization tools for legacy reporting.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to lead projects independently and mentor other engineers.
- BS in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong Python skills, including experience with AI/ML libraries and Spark for large-scale data processing.
- Familiarity with cloud-native application deployment and modern development practices.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive the data product and application strategy for iCloud.
- Design and build custom, AI-assisted web applications for data accessibility.
- Collaborate with Data Science peers to define metrics and design datasets.
- Set technical direction and best practices for application development.
- Mentor other engineers and act as a hands-on architect.
- Iterate with cross-functional teams on key business outcomes.
- Drive a comprehensive roadmap to manage stakeholder expectations.
- Lead complex, cross-functional projects from architecture to delivery.
