Job description
The Sr System Software Engineer will focus on building and optimizing a cloud-based scientific computing platform that supports physics-based numerical simulations and AI workflows. This role involves designing services and infrastructure to enhance system performance across various applications, including weather prediction and climate modeling. The engineer will work with distributed systems and parallel processing to ensure efficient data handling and computation. The position requires a strong background in cloud computing and algorithmic thinking.
Requirements
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related areas or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years experience working on building and operating distributed compute and data intensive platform as a service on cloud.
- Proven skill in a compiled language such as Go, Rust, or C++.
- Strong foundational knowledge in Cloud Computing and virtualization.
- Proven skills in Distributed Systems and Parallel Processing.
- Hands on Debugging skills with Process, Threads, and Memory management.
- Strong Evidence on Algorithmic Thinking and System Design skills.
Responsibilities
- Design services and take ownership of underlying cloud infrastructure for scientific workflows.
- Design novel algorithms and engage with operations to increase overall system performance.
- Design, Build, Deploy and Operate scalable I/O infrastructure for data processing.
- Optimize compute, storage and network architecture specific to simulation-driven applications.
