The AWS DynamoDB team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to enhance observability and performance within the DynamoDB service. This role involves building tools and metrics to analyze and improve performance, focusing on latency reduction and capacity management. The engineer will work closely with diverse teams to solve complex technical challenges and deliver high-quality software solutions. • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of big data technologies experience such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, Lucene/SOLR or Storm/Samza
• Experience in debugging, profiling, and implementing software engineering best practices in large-scale systems

• Build new instrumentation and metrics to understand latency contributions from various components.
• Drive and set performance targets for each component of DynamoDB.
• Collaborate across diverse teams to solve challenging technical problems.
• Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions.
• Create metrics and implement automation to improve software architecture.
• Participate in design discussions and code reviews.
• Work cross-functionally to influence business decisions with technical insights.
